BARBADOS
AN ISLAND SPIRIT
Flying fish, green monkeys, nesting sea turtles, coral reefs and majestic mahogany trees, Barbados is an island full of natural treasures. It is also recognized as the birthplace of Rum.
A coral island surrounded by turquoise waters and cooled by the trade winds, Barbados has been cultivating sugarcane since the 17th century. At its heart stands the Stade’s Rum Distillery, where tradition and innovation meet to craft rums that carry the island’s vibrant spirit to the world.
Centuries of
heritage
Sugarcane cultivation was introduced to Barbados in the early 17th century, becoming one of the defining forces in the island’s economy and culture. Rum in Barbados was born out of the sugar industry byproducts, and the island is now renowned to produce exceptional rums, with a preserved unique production.
Barbadian rums express all the aromatic power of their terroir. They inspired us to craft Canerock.

An historic
DISTILLERY
Canerock is a blend of traditional Barbadian rums, from the legendary Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery also known as Stade’s Rum Distillery, founded by the famous distiller George Stade in 1893, fulfilling his dream of making the best rums in the world by building a modern distillery around his patented column stills.
He chose Barbados, the island where rum was first made in the 1650s, and situated his distillery near the port city of Bridgetown by a valuable freshwater source called Spring Garden. It soon developed into the backbone of the Barbados rum industry and Stade’s became synonymus for high quality rums in the country.
A legendary Barbadian
DISTILLERY
Over the course of its long history, Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery became the custodian of the legacy of several local distilleries and inherited some of the world’s oldest and most famous pot stills like the Batson, the Vulcan and the Rockley. It soon developed into the backbone of the Barbados rum industry and the distillery became synonymous for high quality rums in the country.
Still true to its long-time heritage, the Stade’s West Indies Rum distillery lives on its unique expressions, and give canerock its signature rich character.
